This committee was organized to develop and implement standards for the exchange of purchasing-related data within the rail industry. It is comprised of professionals within the purchasing, material management, finance and information systems departments of major North American railroad companies. This committee and its members are responsible for the implementation of electronic commerce, primarily the development and maintenance of industry EDI standards and general support of EDI usage within the industry.
The principle aim of the committee is to develop industry standards for the electronic interchange of purchasing-related documents. Each industry standard is developed to be usable by all suppliers and will not affect a supplier’s business relationship with an individual railroad.
